Itinerary (11 days)

Day 1 Arrival in Lima

  • Upon arrival at the airport, you will be taken to your hotel.
  • Overnight at your chosen hotel.

Day 2 Lima City Tour

  • In the afternoon, you will tour around Lima starting off with an amazing view of the Pacific Ocean from Miraflores. Then you will visit one of the very few archaeological sites that can be found within the city, the Huallamarca site, and learn more about this pre Inca culture. After taking in the views of modern Lima, you will head to the downtown area, where the Historic Center is located, a great representation of Colonial times. You will visit the Government Palace and the Main Square located right in the middle. Your tour will continue around City Hall, the Cathedral, and Santo Domingo Church.

Day 3 Lima - Cusco

  • You will be taken to the airport to take your flight to Cusco. Upon arrival at the airport, you will be taken to your hotel and have some time to rest.
  • Cusco city tour and nearby ruins. In the afternoon you will have the chance to visit the historical city of Cusco. Your visit will begin with the center of the city, touring around two beautiful colonial landmarks: the Cathedral and the Main Square. Then you will visit the ancient Koricancha (Temple of the Sun in Quechua), an ancient Inca worship center to the Sun God and a marvelous mixture of Inca and colonial architecture. Later on, you will leave the city and head towards the outskirts where several archaeological sites from Inca times can be found, and what better example of this that the Sacsayhuaman Inca Fortress, entirely built in stone, each piece carefully carved to fit perfectly to the other. This Inca fortress is also the chosen site for the Inti Raymi (Festival of the Sun) that is celebrated every year on June 24th. Even more archaeological marvels are ahead: Kenko (labyrinth or maze in Quechua), a ceremonial site; Puca Pucara, a site where you will find the tambos (watch towers) from Inca Time; and finish your visit with Tambomachay, where a never-ending spring can be found. This place is locally known as the Inca Baths, a site that it is believed to be an Inca tribute to Unu (water in Quechua).

Day 4 Cusco

  • Sacred Ceremony of pay to the Earth. You will participate in an ancient and sacred ceremony of pay to the earth, or Pachamama as it's called in quechua. This is an Andean thanksgiving ceremony to mother nature through offerings such as chicha de jora (maize juice) and coca leaves. This ceremony takes place on an amazing site, the Llaullipata forest, located in the outskirts of Cusco.

Day 5 Cusco - Sacred Valley Tour

  • Sacred Valley and Ollantaytambo Fortress. In the morning you will take a day long excursion to the Sacred Valley, as you leave the city you will enjoy the beautiful landscapes that lead to the valley, until finally reaching your first stop, the Pisac market, a colorful place where handicrafts and local products can be found and where you will have the chance to see locals trade their products. After roaming around the market, you will be taken to a local restaurant and enjoy a delicious lunch. The tour comes to an end at the amazing Inca fortress of Ollantaytambo, built by the Inca Pachacutec as a tambo or lodging site it is strategically built on a site that allows it to dominate and watch over the Sacred Valley of the Incas.

Day 6 Sacred Valley - Machu Picchu Tour

  • Early in the morning you will be taken to the train station and start the journey towards the ancient citadel of Machu Picchu. You will arrive at Aguas Calientes and take the bus up to the citadel where your guided tour will begin and you will be able to enjoy this New Wonder of the World and part of UNESCO`s World Heritage. After which you will enjoy a delicious lunch at a local restaurant and then take the bus back to Aguas Calientes where you will spend the night.

Day 7 Machu Picchu - Cusco

  • Machu Picchu, day 02. You will have the morning free to roam around the Aguas Calientes town, visit the hot springs that give it its name or if you plan ahead you can even have the chance to revisit the Machu Picchu citadel and the nearby peak, the Huayna Picchu (if you wish to include entrance fees for the second day please ask your travel specialist). In the afternoon you will take the train back to the city of Cusco where you will spend the night.

Day 8 Cusco - Lima - Chiclayo

  • You will be taken to the airport to take your flight to Chiclayo via Lima. Upon your arrival you will be taken to your hotel.

Day 9 Chiclayo Tour

  • Tucume, Royal Tombs Museum and Huaca Rajada. This day you will visit the Royal Tombs of Sipan Museum which holds the pieces found at the Lord of Sipan burial site, very important pieces from the Moche culture that governed this area before the Incas took over. After this visit you will visit the Tucume archaeological site, an amazing place made of 26 truncated pyramids that belongs to pre Inca times. You will finish the day by visiting the Huaca Rajada site, the burial platform where the Lord of Sipan and all its marvelous pieces were discovered.

Day 10 Chiclayo - Lima

  • City tour and visit to Shamans Market. You will visit the main sites of the city of Chiclayo like the Santa Maria Cathedral, the City Hall with its windows and wide doors of wrought iron, San Antonio Church, Veronica Church founded in 1868, the Main Square. Afterwards you will visit Witch Market where the shamans, traditional healers, sell their herbs and paraphernalia used in their healing sessions.
  • You will be taken to the airport to take your flight to Lima. Upon your arrival you will be taken to your hotel.

Day 11 Departure from Lima

  • You will be taken to the airport to take your international flight.
